Self-Discovery

Self-DiscoveryHow does one plot out his or her purpose with definitiveness? How can you be sure that you have made the right choice? Who is that voice that creeps in the back door and says I can’t do that?. Do you remember a moment when you felt invincible?

Self-Discovery is not as simple as laying out your visions, goals and purpose. These are most certainly tools in the process of Self-Discovery, but they are not the answer. What if I were to tell you that there is no answer, that the answer is intended to be a mystery? How would you implement that understanding into your daily life?

I can only share the truth that exists for me. I have come to discover that questioning life and the pieces that make it up, is the only way to re-member our Self. Self-Discovery is the process of Re-membering, which is the experience of putting the puzzle back together.

When we took physical form at birth, we were immediately introduced to a world of multiple pieces. We have words, languages, roads, cars, trees, lights, stars, computers, combs, blankets, rivers, oceans and much more. On top of that we have emotional interpretation, happiness, acceptance, anger, anticipation, disgust, joy, fear, sadness, surprise, pleasure and the list goes on. Building on top of that we have the dualistic reality and the experience of relativity. Meaning, not only do we have to intellectually and emotional identify where we are in space in time, but we have to comprehend that nothing stays the same and what was right in this context may be wrong in the next context, because duality just identifies polar opposites and their relationship to one another is variable depending upon their relative relationship.

The fact of the matter is that this list continues to grow and grow and everything stacks on top of one another and it all needs to be taken into consideration in every moment and in all decisions.

You may relate to these words, emotions and expressions but you must realize that these are obstacles in your path. Please don’t get me wrong, I encourage you to revere and respect these creations that we experience, but don’t let them deter you from your Self. To know your Self in each moment is the purpose in which we have all come to explore and reclaim. Defining that purpose is done most simplistically by identifying the impression and influence you would like to have on this planet.

Look at it this way, when doing a jigsaw puzzle you have the picture on the front of the box. The picture on the front acts as a clear vision that you use to guide you towards the re-membering of the puzzle. If you didn’t have the picture on the box to act as a clear vision, it would take much longer to complete because you’d encounter more obstacles in your pursuit and those obstacles will pull your attention towards the small picture instead of remaining engrossed in the big picture.

Many of you have probably experienced a time where one piece in a jigsaw puzzle caused you so much agony you struggled for hours on one piece and eventually decided to set it aside and look at the big picture again.

I would encourage you to fully examine your picture of life and consider all the possible pieces, and once you have broaden your perspective to encompass all the possibilities that exist for you, start working towards the center of your experience, soon you’ll realize that all pieces lead to the same point; everything shares the same purpose.

Just like a jigsaw puzzle, you put together the perimeter of the framework and work your way towards the core. Apply the same philosophy to your life and through applied effort your picture will reveal its Self as you Re-member.

Yes! What a wonderful example is the puzzle. Expanding on that thought… our conditioned minds of physicality say to put the framework together first, then fill it in; however, my experience of self discovery is leading me to begin piecing it together in the center of the image (without regard to what it looks like, rather what it feels like as spirituality has no image)and continually add the pieces one by one. To place a perimeter upon it first is like to say, “I am __________, or God is __________.” When truly limitless, the image is actually larger than the perimeter could ever define one spirit to be. I had struggled for so long to map the perimeter with great confusion and frustration because I felt the pressure to get it all figured out. Your words about the mystery of life resonate with my core. Without the mystery, living feels boring and composed holding expectations and judgement. The improvisation of life into unknown adventures continuously brings magic to my life. It could look like chaos to others because there is no certainty, but with indeed each step (or piece) constructed with the power of choice, I feel in control NOW with the magic of TOMORROW continually unfolding. Just merely the communication of this ever-changing soul’s experience thus far. One Love.
